70 years evil anniversary and 1989 Tiananmen Massacre

Me and my motherland,
On that night, bloodshed at Tiananmen Square;
Tanks smashed my flesh and bones,
Gun shots spread over my songs of sorrow,
The red spector has haunted this land, doing all means of evils.
My country land has experienced many years of hardships,
On the road to freedom and democracy.
If I was to express myself today as a Chinese man,
That responsibility is still on my shoulders.

For 70 years after the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) seized power in China, the life of ordinary people has been disturbed every ten years for a national anniversary celebration. But people want to question: Who is this anniversary celebrated for?

On October 1, 2019, there will be a grand military parade at the Gate Tower of Heavenly Peace along the Chang’an Avenue and a march of the mass, together with a night show and fireworks display. Over 300,000 people in Beijing will attend the celebrations.

To ensure the smoothness of these events, Beijing authorities have ordered all construction sites within the central districts to stop their work; most shops and restaurants along the main venues have been closed or restricted for business. Many of the buildings along the Chang’an Avenue and beyond are ordered to have their doors and windows closed.

For the CCP to stay in power, it is a general practice for a national “celebration” every five years and a larger one every ten years. The military parade is the core of these celebrations to show that the Party has full control over the military and all troops are loyal to the CCP leadership.

Every CCP leader honours such mass parades to show off their power, including Jiang Zemin and Hu Jintao from 1999-2009. After Xi Jinping came to power in 2012, he has been very keen at holding such military parades, one in 2015 to commemorate the 70 years anniversary of Anti-Japanese victory, another time in 2017 at Zhurihe military camp in Inner Mongolia.

According to Beijing government’s plan, the main activities will take place at the Tiananmen Square. President Xi Jinping will deliver a speech on the Gate Tower stage escorted by other members of the Standing Committee of the CCP’s Politburo, veteran CCP leaders and foreign celebrities. Sources said only 10 countries have decided to accept the invitation for participation.

The event on October 1 will include the military parade and the mass march that will last 80 minutes. 50 performance teams of about 15,000 people will attend the processions including the military band. 160 planes and fighter jets, and 580 ammunition vehicles will make their appearances, the largest gathering of this kind since 1949.

For most Beijing residents, these celebrations are nothing but disruptions to their normal lives as they are disturbed daily and restricted in many ways. Many think it intolerable.

Even during the rehearsals, several districts were closed or blocked for public travel. Most shops, restaurants and markets were closed. Subway stations along the Chang’an Avenue and nearby areas were closed. Tall buildings were requested to seal up or cover up their windows with curtains.

Police blocked public access to residential areas in the central districts. Security guards are deployed in every corner of streets and entrances of residential buildings. All residents are requested to show their ID cards for entry or exit.

To ensure space security, in the past two weeks, the Beijing government has prohibited the flying of kites, drones and doves. Wireless electronics are restricted, microphones and walkie-talkies are prohibited. Internet and local area network are restricted or disrupted.

To ensure clear air during the events, many electricity plants, coal plants, and construction sites were ordered to close in Beijing, and neighbouring Tianjin city and Hebei province. Many factories were requested to stop production.

Preparations for the events are a huge waste of labor and wealth. The Beijing authorities have mobilised tens of thousands of residents daily to decorate every street and every building of the city. Huge flower baskets were made, large number of red flags were made and hung. Security guards are everywhere. A huge police force was deployed.

To prepare for a “celebration” of just hours and create a threatening atmosphere amongst the people, the CCP leadership is causing troubles and great hardships to the people.

With the global fight against communism and socialism by the joint forces of justice, the CCP regime has come to its doom and this 70 years anniversary shall be the last time of their “celebrations”.
