“We will resolutely reform what should and can be reformed, and make no change where there should not and cannot be any reform,” Chinese President Xi Jinping said at a gathering commemorating the 40th anniversary of China’s reform and opening-up on Tuesday, adding that “No one is in a position to dictate to the Chinese people what should or should not be done.”
Critics have said that the communist regime under President Xi has refused to undergo any political reform in the country and will continue to lead the nation on a road towards totalitarianism, while leaving freedom and democracy behind.
As Chinese state media all the same hail the President’s great remarks on “deepening reform and opening up”, China’s stock market responds with “down-down-down” figures.
Some people have said that President Xi has determined not to give the Chinese a time to celebrate Christmas or the coming Chinese New Year, as he himself is having a bad mood under Donald Trump’s trade pressure.
Chinese media says Christmas is not a traditional Chinese holiday and thus shall not be celebrated in China.
We all know Marxism is not a traditional Chinese idea and thus it shall also been banned in the country.
To stick to the road of Marxism, President Xi is doomed to make the 100 million Chinese Christians his enemies by banning their Christmas celebrations.
According to Christian Post yesterday, another 60 Christians have been arrested from Chinese churches where 100 were already detained last week.
These 60 members of the underground Early Rain Covenant Church in Chengdu were arrested this past Sunday, in an ongoing crackdown against the Protestant congregation, the report says.
It is sad to read that some of the 100 Christian leaders and students who were arrested earlier in December had to leave their children unattended. A prayer letter released by the church after the arrests claimed that at least three believers who were detained by the Communist Party authorities had been tortured.
“On Sunday, some members tried to gather at other places for worship but got taken away as well. The Church building has been manned with police and plain-clothes officers, not allowing anyone to enter to do worship service,” a church member said.
The Early Rain Covenant Church pastor said that following the Bible, he accepts and respects “the fact that this Communist regime has been allowed by God to rule temporarily.”
“At the same time, I believe that this Communist regime’s persecution against the church is a greatly wicked, unlawful action. As a pastor of a Christian church, I must denounce this wickedness openly and severely,” he added.
Vice reported that it’s shaping up to be a very un-merry Christmas for China’s Christians. In the last four months, Chinese authorities have raided three of the country’s most-prominent underground churches, whose worships the government claims are threats to the state.
“Halfway through the children’s Bible class, we heard the footsteps of dozens of police and officials stomping up the stairs,” a church member posted online, according to the South China Morning Post. “They read out law enforcement notices declaring our venue was an illegal gathering [that had engaged in] illegal publishing and illegal fundraising and confiscated all Bibles.”
What’s worse, a BBC Report says, Pastor Wang and his wife – who have an 11-year-old son – have been charged with inciting subversion of state power, one of the most serious crimes against the state and a charge which is often used to silence dissidents. It carries a potential jail term of 15 years. Several senior members of the church face similar charges.
“Inciting subversion of state power” is an accurate accusation and I think 99% of Chinese deserves this accusation as they all want a change in the autocratic government. But this is not a crime. It is their right to overturn any government that does not has the legitimacy and does all evil to its people.
Interestingly enough, as nearly all state-owned company managers are sending Christmas greetings to their western business partners, Christmas decorations have been banned in the northern Chinese city of Langfang. South China Morning Post says, “Santa Claus won’t be coming to this town”.
A statement by the Urban Management Bureau of Langfang, a city of four million people on the outskirts of Beijing, which was circulated on Chinese social media this week, ordered shops to remove decorations, including Christmas trees and Santa Claus costumes, and stop Christmas sales to “maintain stability”.
The notice said anyone caught selling Christmas trees, stockings or Santa Claus figures would be punished and urged the public to report anyone who was “practising religion” in public places in the city.
The state-run Global Times newspaper argued that the action was not targeted at Christmas but was designed to help Langfang’s entry into China’s “National Civilised Cities” competition.
Because of the recklessness of the CCP and stupidity of President Xi, Chinese people can better understand the nature of the communist party and the fact that the demons are already ready to do more evil.
If President Xi had pledged that China would come onto the road of freedom and democracy with its deepening reforms and opening up, Chinese would have been deceived and kept away from related pursuits.
The extreme craziness of CCP and its leaders has let the Chinese totally give up their illusion of the so-called China Dream under Xi, and finally stand up for their religious rights besides others like celebrating the Christmas.
In that sense, we have to say thank-you to the doomed Xi Jinping.
