Sun Lijun, vice minister of public security, is now under investigation for suspected severe violations of discipline and law, China’s top anti-graft body said Sunday.
The corruption probe carried out by the Chinese Communist Party’s Central Commission for Discipline Inspection has made Sun the latest political casualty of Beijing’s handling of the coronavirus outbreak.
Sun was sent from Beijing to Wuhan in February to take charge of security operations there. He was also responsible for the crackdown of democratic activists in Hong Kong.
