Chinese President Xi Jinping has announced the opening of the 2nd China International Import Expo and delivered a keynote speech this morning in Shanghai.
I highlight some of President Xi’s remarks here and give my comments as follows:
President Xi: Your Excellency President Emmanuel Macron, Your Excellencies Prime Minister Andrew Holness, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, and Prime Minister Ana Brnabic, Your Excellencies Speakers of Parliament, Your Excellencies Heads of International Organizations, Your Excellencies Heads of Delegations, Distinguished Guests, ladies and Gentlemen, friends! In this lovely season tinted with deep autumn hues, it gives me great pleasure to get together with you by the Huangpu River.
Editor: From the opening words here, we can see that only heads of states from four countries have accepted the invitation to attend the Import Expo in Shanghai. They are the president or prime ministers of France, Jamaica, Greece, and Serbia.
The world community has kept their distance. We can clearly see the embarrassment in President Xi’s face when he opens his speech, only to speak out the names of these four VIPs with little importance. Even his old friends of Russia, Iran or North Korea are absent. I am sure President Xi is not pleased at all.
President Xi: A year ago in this same place, the inaugural China International Import Expo was successfully held. Today, we are happy to be joined by even more friends in the second Expo that carries on the theme of “New Era, Shared Future”. I trust that you will all find your participation in the event worthwhile and rewarding!
Editor: The audience have open eyes to see if President Xi has more friends this year or not. When you open your speech with fake words, no one would believe in what you will say afterwards.
President Xi: Here I have given a summary of what China has done after the First CIIE, with a purpose to tell that we are a trust-worthy country and that we have kept our words.
Editor: The whole world has learned that the Chinese Communist Government has seldom kept its commitments and the CCP can never be trusted. One instance is the trade war with the United States where President Xi has broken his promises over and over again.
President Xi: Economic globalization represents the trend of history. Like the world’s great rivers, the Yangtze, the Nile, the Amazon and the Danube — they all surge forward in relentless flow, and nothing can stop their mighty movement, not the current of undertows or hidden shoals or rocks beneath the water.
Editor: More and more people in the world community have come to understand the ambitions of President Xi and his communist party in their terms of the so-called economic globalization. The CCP has the plan to challenge the United States, threaten other nations, and dominate the world.
The civilized world has been awakened to these threats and has stood up to stop the CCP regime from causing disasters to humanity.
President Xi: I hereby would like to put forth several proposals: First, jointly build an open and cooperative world economy; second, jointly build an open and innovative world economy; third, jointly build an open and sharing world economy.
Editor: The world is now scared and extremely cautious when they hear President Xi stress the importance of “building a community with a shared future for mankind”. Whether it is an open world economy or sharing world economy, the world is sceptical that President Xi might take all their money and put it into his own pockets.
President Xi: Ladies and gentlemen, dear friends! Standing at the starting point of a new history, China’s door will only be opened wider and wider.
And president Xi went on to pledge that China will adopt five measures to promote higher-level opening up: first, continue to expand market opening up; second, continue to improve the framework of opening up; third, continue to optimize business environment; fourth, continue to deepen multilateral and bilateral cooperation; fifth, continue to jointly build the Belt and Road.
Editor: When China does not have an open internet; when China still has the notorious Great Firewall and tightening censorship daily, it is ridiculous for President Xi to ever mention the word “opening up”. We have seen the awkwardness in his facial expression that President Xi is speaking words that he himself has never believed in.
President Xi: Ladies and gentlemen, dear friends! Looking into the future, China will carry on with its new ideas in development …. I believe, the future of China’s economic development should be brighter, and will surely be brighter….With the Chinese civilization, we have always advocated a harmony among all nations of the world. I hope that we shall all work together for an open world economy and to build a community with a shared future for mankind!
Editor: To conclude, President Xi repeats his “shared future for mankind”. Do you believe him? Does anyone in the world still believe him?
I don’t believe him.
