China’s youngest female billionaire Zetian Zhang lists The Rocks penthouse for $18 million

Check out this week’s pick of Prestige Properties.

Finding the time to get to your holiday home is hard enough when it’s an 11-hour flight away, even for one of China’s richest couples, e-commerce billionaire Richard Liu and his young wife Zetian Zhang.

Add to the equation a baby girl and that flight gets even longer, even by private jet.

And so it is that two years after the founder and chairman of bought the then new three-level penthouse for Zhang for $16.2 million, their Sydney pad is up for sale for $18 million.

Zetian Zhang is selling her Stamford Residences penthouse at The Rocks.

The penthouse was bought for Zhang, 23, just six months before the couple wed in Sydney in October 2015, catapulting Zetian Zhang from being known as the internet sensation with the angelic smile known as “Milk Tea Sister” to being married to the man Forbes currently ranks China’s 13th richest person and arguably China’s youngest, female billionaire in her own right.

A Sydney bolthole is widely considered among many of the billionaires of China as a must-have, and Liu, 43, is no exception.

He first got to know Sydney in early 2015 by renting the waterfront mansion in Vaucluse that was previously the Sydney base of Leonardo DiCaprio.

That Luigi Rosselli-designed residence was still widely considered to be Liu’s main Sydney base after it was sold by Australia’s trade commissioner in Texas Alastair Walton and his former wife Gilly to Liu’s close business associates Huang Qiarong and her husband Zhang Xuansong.

Indeed, Zhang is understood to have spent only a night or two in her own penthouse at The Rocks, despite the panoramic views, marble-floored formal and informal living and dining rooms, internal lift, and two roof terraces spread over almost 600 square metres.

Michael Lowden, of Ray White Residential Sydney, has the listing.

The apartment's impressive outlook can even be appreciated from the bedroom, which enjoys a view of the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
